Who will play the arch-villain Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse, has been announced, and although we are a couple years away from the film’s release news like this is always welcomed no matter how early we get it!
If you didn’t already know, the title of the next X-Men film will be X-Men: Apocalypse due in theaters May 2016. And, if you stayed for the post credit scene after X-Men: Days of Future Past, you probably saw a mutant being with enormous power telekinetically constructing an ancient Egyptian Pyramid, with blocks of stone essentially stacking themselves upon one another, as followers worshipped and chanted ‘En Sabah Nur.’
Apocalypse, born En Sabah Nur, nearly 5000 years ago, is one of the most powerful mutants who ever lived in the Marvel universe, and one in-which the X-Men will soon come to a near cataclysmic collision with in the next X-Men film.
Besides that fact that will we see a return of the X-men cast as well as Director Bryan Singer who directed the last X-Men film, X-Men: Days of Future Past and has had a hand in directing and producing several of the other X-Men films, little was known about who would play the titular role of Apocalypse, until now.
Actor Oscar Isaac has been cast as super mutant, Apocalypse.
Oscar Isaac, born in Guatemala, may or may not be familiar to you, but he has been around and in some surprisingly large and/or pretty cool productions. He apparently had roles in such films as Body of Lies with Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio, Sucker Punch, Drive with Ryan Gosling, The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner, and last and probably the biggest Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens!
Depending on what his role will be in Star Wars (no confirmation on exactly WHO or what role he will play), being cast as Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse could very well be one of the biggest (if not one of the most popular being that comic book films have been huge box office successes) roles of relatively young career.
Here’s hoping to a monster performance Oscar!
