Pacific Rim Uprising Premise:
It has been ten years since the Battle of the Breach and the oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes when the Kaiju threat returns. Into this is thrust ex-jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost, son of the late Stacker Pentecost, who is given a chance by his adopted sister, Mako Mori to unite with the world and fellow Jaeger pilots to prevent humanity’s extinction. Pacific Rim Uprising Trailer
The original Pacific Rim film very closely fulfilled all my childhood (and adulthood) dreams of bring to life some of the amazing machines that continued to bless my television from popular Japanese Anime.
As our technology and creativity in movie making continue to improve and allow us to bring ideas and imagination to life, I can only wonder what will come at us in the near future.
The effects and action in this look over the top, as they did in the original Pacific Rim film. Giant robots fighting giant monsters, leveling cities, world destruction on the edge. This is the stuff of Saturday afternoon, Japanese monster movies for me growing up – Godzilla, King Kong, in other words, the greats of the past.
We also see some familiar faces from the original film (Rinko Kikuchi as Mako) and some notable new, but also familiar faces in John Boyega (Star Wars The Force Awakens).
Pacific Rim Uprising opens nationwide March 2018.
