Yesterday we got a short, sneak peak teaser trailer of Marvel’s Spider-Man Homecoming to help wet our appetites for what was to come tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live – and now, FINALLY we got to see the full length trailer.
In February 2015, Marvel Studios and Sony reached a deal to share the character rights of Spider-Man, integrating the character into the established Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The following June, young actor Tom Holland was cast as the title character, to whom we were all introduced to, when guest appeared as part of TEAM STARK in Captain America: Civil War.
Spider-Man Homecoming essentially picks up right after the events in Captain America: Civil War, with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) desperately trying to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens, New York City with fighting crime on the side as the high-flying Spider-Man.
There have been many attempts at getting the popular Marvel character to the big screen, with Toby Maquire first taking the iconic superhero to box office busting heights in 2002. He then starred in sequels in 2004 and 2007 with Andrew Garfield taking over the role of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 released in 2014.
After so many attempts at bringing a Spider-Man film to theaters within a relatively short space of time, it was no surprise, that when the initial announcement of Tom Holland was announced as yet ANOTHER version of Spider-Man, audiences and the fan-base were instantly skeptical. However, when Holland finally made his debut in Captain America: Civil War, it was a huge plus for the film and arguably the stand-out performance of the entire film, with Black Panther coming in a close second. Tom Holland had finally ‘ARRIVED’ and the fans were not only eating it up but now equally excited at the prospect of seeing Tom Holland as Peter Parker show up in Spider-Man Homecoming
Which brings us FINALLY to this much anticipated FIRST TRAILER…
Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled to be released on July 7, 2017
