The first trailer to Fox’s comic book adaptation ‘Gotham‘ aired last night and initial reactions have been mixed, but one thing is for sure, it definitely gave us plenty to look forward to.
On the one hand, we get a young James Gordon (soon to be the legendary Commissioner Gordon that we’ve all come to know and love through various Batman TV series, films and animated features), played by Ben McKenzie, whom we will undoubtedly get to watch grow and rise in his career as it takes on Gotham’s worse. And of course, he’ll have to accomplish this without the aid of the Dark Knight, who in this story line will only be a child.
We get a young Bruce Wayne and a story which looks like it will kick off right at the moment where Wayne’s parents are murdered right in front of him, and young Gordon is their to console him and make that initial introduction that will span lifetimes, as well we know.
Early concerns from the Web is that this is nothing more than a gritty crime drama, piggybacking on the coat tails of comic book hysteria. My hope is that this is not the case and that Gotham’s masters have learned from the successes of other DC Comic shows, ahem…ARROW, in bringing to life a another comic book story great! You be the judge.
